About the project

A cabinet of medieval coinage.

Equal parts software project, scholarly study, and personal collection.

This site brings together three strands of work: a desktop cataloguing application called the Medieval Coin Cabinet, a structured reference catalogue of the ducal coinage of Lorraine, and a body of ongoing scholarship — translations of nineteenth-century French numismatic literature, systematic extraction and reattribution of plate images, and per-reign essays.

The application

The Medieval Coin Cabinet is a desktop application for curating a personal collection of medieval coinage. It is built around a structured SQLite database, with a companion reference catalogue intended to grow over time. It runs locally — no cloud, no subscription, no telemetry. It exists because no commercial cataloguing tool gave the structured numismatic detail and bibliographic precision that scholarly collecting demands.

The reference catalogue

The bundled reference catalogue begins with the Duchy of Lorraine, drawing on F. de Saulcy's Recherches sur les monnaies des Ducs héréditaires de Lorraine (Metz, 1841) — supplemented by Roberts, Flon, Boudeau, Numista, and other sources. Each entry is linked back to the original plate, where available, with images extracted and cross-referenced against modern Numista identifiers.

The author

The project is maintained by Igor Perezhogin, a developer and collector based in Florida. The Lorraine focus reflects a long-standing scholarly interest in the duchy's monetary history under the houses of Châtenois, Vaudémont, and Habsburg-Lorraine.
